1. What conditions are chemical peels used to treat?

   Chemical peels are recommended for skin conditions such as active acne and acne scarring; hyperpigmentation; and rosacea. They can also refine signs of ageing, such as lines, wrinkles and dryness.

2. How is a skin peel performed?

   Depending on your skin tone, we may start treatments before your peel to prepare your skin. Darker skin tones may need longer preparation time.

   On the day of your skin peel, we prepare the skin with a soothing, relaxing cleanse. Next, your chemical peel is gently applied for the required time. Finally, aftercare advice is given for optimum results.

3. How long does a skin peel take?

   As a general rule, 30 minutes is a good guide for our skin peels.

4. What is the most popular type of skin peel?

   Our Adonia Glow Peel is one of our most popular. As well as being suitable for all skin types, including Black, Caucasian, Asian and Mixed heritage skin, and can be used on the face and body regions, such as the neck, underarms, back and even intimate areas.

5. Are skin peels painful?

   No. Most patients only experience a mild tingling. Serious side-effects from skin peels are extremely rare, but could include problems such as infection or scarring. Putting your trust in our experts helps reduce these risks.

6. How long do the results last?

   Results may vary, and we always stress the importance of aftercare in maintaining and prolonging results. Your skin is a sensitive organ, so it’s key to have good self-care, such as keeping yourself hydrated and staying protected from the sun. It’s also important to avoid picking the skin, as this can cause irritation and scarring.

7. How many skin peels will I need?

   For superficial peels, 6 treatments are recommended. For medium skin peels, it’s 13-6treatments. Finally, for deep chemical peels, a treatment every few years is all that’s usually needed.

8. Are there any risks related to chemical peels?

   Yes, as with any aesthetics procedure. Expect some soreness and tingling at the time it’s applied, followed by itching and peeling afterwards. With the deeper peels, scarring, infection and discolouration is extremely rare, but can occur.

9. What is the recovery time?

   Light peels usually take 1-5 days for healing, while medium peels take an average of 7 days. Deep peels can take a few weeks.
