1. How do the treatments differ?

   Cosmelan came first, but is still considered to be one of the world’s leading skin brighteners. Dermamelan is a more advanced version of the treatment, with higher levels of active ingredients.

2. Is treatment suitable for me?

   Cosmelan and Dermamelan are effective on all skin types, skin tones, and for both men and women – whatever your ethnicity.

3. How long do results take?

   You may see results in as little as a week. Treatment is so effective, that Dermamelan erased nearly 70% of blemishes and dark spots in a clinical trial.

4. How long do the results last?

   It is always possible that future pigmentation could develop due to sun exposure or other factors. Judicious use of sun protective clothing sun screen and sun avoidance practices are needed to maintain results.

5. Are any other treatments recommended?

   Chemical peels and microneedling are commonly used to treat pigmentation, amongst other concerns. A combination of treatments may be recommended for best results.

6. Are there any risks related to treatment?

   Your skin may feel tight or appear swollen, and redness and dryness can also be a factor. However, these side-effects should fade as your skin adjusts and beings to heal itself.

7. What aftercare should I follow?

   Our skin experts will talk you through any aftercare involved following your treatment. This includes  wearing daily sun protection factor 50, which helps protect skin against UV rays and future hyperpigmentation patches as well as the use of protective clothing.

8. Where else can the peels be performed?

   It may be possible to treat areas such as the hands, back, shoulders, or décolletage, legs, knees, back, underarms, thighs, bottom.

9. Is there anything I should avoid?

   Our experts suggest that certain products may over stimulate skin, such as those containing retinols or vitamin C, discuss with the team which products need to be held before your treatment.
